Tony Toth. Oboist, english hornist, saxophonist, clarinetist, copyist, b Windsor, Ont, d Hamilton 23 Oct 2003. Among Tony Toth's teachers were Herbert Pye (clarinet, Toronto Conservatory of Music), Maurice Morel (oboe, english horn, and clarinet, Paris 1960), and Virginia Markson (flute). Toth began his professional career in London, Ont, while studying commerce 1950-5 at the University of Western Ontario. Returning in 1955 to Toronto he divided his time there between work as a copyist and/or an oboist, clarinetist, and english hornist in radio, TV, theatre, and recording orchestras. In the 1970s he was the baritone saxophonist and copyist for Nimmons 'N' Nine Plus Six and during the 1980s played in Peter Appleyard's All Star Swing Band.
