Nadine Hunt, trade union executive (b at Kingston, Ont). A graduate of the Labour College of Canada in 1971, Hunt served as vice-president of the Saskatchewan Federation of Labour 1970-71 and as treasurer 1974-78, before becoming the first woman in Canadian history to lead a labour federation when she was elected president of the organization in 1978, a post she has held ever since. As well as being a worker's representative at the International Labour Organization, where she served on a committee to establish international standards for the treatment of workers with family responsibilities, she has assisted in the establishment of the Labour Studies Program at U Sask and is active on several educational and political advisory boards.
