Marlene Stewart Streit, golfer (b at Cereal, Alta 9 Mar 1934). Streit played junior golf in Fonthill, Ont. She was a powerful competitor, her game marked by fierce pride and will to win, and she became Canada's greatest women's amateur golfer.

She was a powerful competitor, her game marked by fierce pride and will to win, and she became Canada's greatest women's amateur golfer. She won the Canadian Ladies' Open Amateur title 11 times between 1951 and 1973, the Ontario Ladies' Amateur Championship 11 times, the Ladies' British Open Amateur in 1953, the US Women's Amateur in 1956 and the Australian Women's Amateur in 1963.

Streit was voted Canada's athlete of the year in 1951 and 1956. She continued to play after her heyday and found new competitive life after becoming a senior, winning the Canadian Senior Women's Amateur 3 times and the US Senior Women's Amateur in 1985 and 1994. She is a Member of the Order of Canada, the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame and the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame.
