Marion Loretta Reid, teacher, politician, lieutenant-governor of PEI (b at North Rustico, PEI 4 Jan 1929). Reid taught elementary school for 21 years, the last four of which she was a principal. During this time she was also raising eight children.

Marion Loretta Reid, teacher, politician, lieutenant-governor of PEI (b at North Rustico, PEI 4 Jan 1929). Reid taught elementary school for 21 years, the last four of which she was a principal. During this time she was also raising eight children. In 1979 she was elected to the PEI Legislature as a member of the PC Party and was appointed deputy Speaker. She became Speaker following her re-election in 1982. She was re-elected in 1986, but her party and leader were defeated by the Liberals under Joe GHIZ. Reid became Opposition House Leader until defeated in the Ghiz landslide victory of 1989. She served as lieutenant-governor of PEI from 1990 to 1995.
