Romance for voice and piano, words by Pierre-Gabriel Huot and music by Célestin Lavigueur composed ca 1861 and a popular patriotic song for several decades. Its inspiration is said to have come from a visit by the authors to the village of Lorette, near Quebec City.

Its inspiration is said to have come from a visit by the authors to the village of Lorette, near Quebec City. Nazaire LeVasseur reports that 'Lavigueur requested Huot to write a poem about the Huron nation, adding that he would set it to music' in order to pay the boarding fee for their visit to the Huron colony. The work was published (no date) by Léger Brousseau Frères; on 3 Jan 1862 in L'Écho du Cabinet de lecture paroissial; and in 1864 by Lavigueur & Hutchison.
