Peggy (Agnes) Sharpe. Pianist, teacher, administrator, b Brandon, Man, 26 Jul 1914; ATCM 1932, BA (McMaster ) 1935, diploma(Brandon) 1936, M MUS (Northwestern) 1963. Sharpe graduated from the TCM (RCMT) at age 17. She undertook additional post-graduate piano studies with Arthur Benjamin (U British Columbia), James Friskin (Chautauqua, N.Y.), Louis Kentner (London), Viggo Kihl (Toronto), and Alfred Mirovitch and Luisa Stojowski (Juilliard). She joined the faculty of Brandon College in 1943. During her long association with Brandon University she was acting head of the Dept of Music 1947-8, 1953-4, 1961-62, and became the first supervisor of the Conservatory Dept of the newly-established School of Music in 1963 and held that position until 1981. Two of her piano pupils are Norman Chapman and Erika Pestyk. On sabbatical in the early 70's, she travelled and researched the music of the Pacific region. She has been an examiner for the WBM, an adjudicator for the FCMF, and a board member of the S.C. Eckhardt-Gramatté Competition. Sharpe was awarded an honorary life membership in theMRMTA in 1991.
