Louis Rubenstein, figure skater (b at Montréal 23 Sept 1861; d there 3 Jan 1931). One of Canada's finest all-round athletes, Rubenstein was Canadian figure-skating champion 1883-89.

Louis Rubenstein, figure skater (b at Montréal 23 Sept 1861; d there 3 Jan 1931). One of Canada's finest all-round athletes, Rubenstein was Canadian figure-skating champion 1883-89. In 1890 in St Petersburg, Russia, he won the unofficial world championship, displaying a mastery of figures and free skating. President of the Int Skating Union of America 1907-09, Rubenstein was also active in the administration of several sports. He was an accomplished bowler and cyclist, president of the Canadian Wheelmen's Assn for 18 years, and president of the Montréal Amateur Athletic Assn 1913-15. Rubenstein was a partner in the family firm of silver platers and manufacturers, and was a Montréal alderman 1914-31.
