La Musique
La Musique (1919-24). Quebec City monthly music journal edited and published jointly by Hector Faber and Omer Létourneau. The first issue, 15 Jan 1919, announced its aims: 'To give musicians a point of contact... to stimulate their energies, and to interest the public in musical affairs.' Its contributors were drawn from among the best-known musicians in Quebec City and Montreal and included Joseph-Arthur Bernier, Octave Bourdon, Henri and Blanche Gagnon, J.-Alexandre Gilbert, Louis Gravel, Charles-Hugues Lefebvre, Arthur Letondal, Nazaire LeVasseur, Olivier Maurault, François-Xavier Mercier, Frédéric Pelletier, and J.-Robert Talbot. The usual offerings were biographical sketches, portraits and illustrations, reviews, news, and musical chronicles, of which the most important, 'Musique et musiciens à Québec' (15 Jan 1919-22 Dec 1922), was written by LeVasseur. In January 1923 the journal became a Laval University publication and the official organ of the School of Music, whose staff members formed its board. Because of its appeal to a general audience, it was a valuable vehicle of information, and its demise with the issue of April 1924 was justly lamented.
