Jean Le Moyne, writer (b at Montréal 17 Feb 1913; d there 1 April 1996). Le Moyne was a founding member in 1934 of La Relève, a magazine produced by a group of young French-Canadian Catholic intellectuals. He pursued a career in journalism 1941-59 and then went to the NATIONAL FILM BOARD.

Jean Le Moyne, writer (b at Montréal 17 Feb 1913; d there 1 April 1996). Le Moyne was a founding member in 1934 of La Relève, a magazine produced by a group of young French-Canadian Catholic intellectuals. He pursued a career in journalism 1941-59 and then went to the NATIONAL FILM BOARD. In 1961 he published a collection of essays, Convergences, which appeared in English in 1966 as Convergence. For these he won the Governor General's Award in 1961 and first prize in the Québec Literary Competition in 1962. In 1968 he received the Molson Prize. In 1969 he moved to the Prime Minister's Office, where he was an assistant and adviser until retiring in 1978. In 1982 he was made an Officer of the Order of Canada and appointed to the Senate.
