She was a member of one of the first families of Polish origin to settle in Canada. She studied 1946-51 at the École Vincent-d'Indy with Jean Dansereau (piano) and Claude Champagne (theory). Winner in 1951 of the Prix d'Europe, she studied 1951-2 at the Paris Cons in the foreigners' class with Marcel Ciampi and 1952-6 at the Vienna Academy of Music with Bruno Seidlhofer. In 1954 she received an honourable mention at the International Competition for Musical Performers in Geneva and was heard on Viennese radio. The following year she became the first Canadian to participate in the Frederic Chopin International Competition in Warsaw.

Returning to Canada, Globenski toured 1956-7 for the JMC (YMC), and appeared on CBC radio as a soloist and chamber musician, especially in 'Récital'. She taught 1960-2 at the École Vincent-d'Indy and worked 1960-3 as an accompanist at the CMM. She took summer courses 1963-7 at Indiana U, Bloomington.

She became affiliated with Laval University in 1963 where she taught, was director of the graduate program (1978-80), of the instrumental program (1980-2), director (1985-9), and thereafter assistant director of Continuing Education. She was an artistic advisor to the Institut canadien in Quebec City in 1980. In the late 1980s, she focused her piano activities on chamber music and Canadian piano music of the 19th and 20th centuries. With the violinist Liliane Garnier-Lesage she recorded music of Bartók, Beethoven, Debussy, Kreisler, Paganini, Ravel, and Wieniawski.

Jacinthe Couture was one of her pupils.

In 2005 the preparatory music school of Laval University was renamed the École préparatoire de musique Anna- Marie Globenski to honour her 30 years with the institution.
