Robert Calder

Professor Emeritus at the University of Saskatchewan, Robert Calder is the author or editor of eleven books, most of which have been published in Great Britain and the United States, and in translation in Japan and Russia. Willie: The Life of W. Somerset Maugham won the 1989 Governor General’s Literary Award for Non-Fiction, A Richer Dust earned him the 2003 John Hicks Long Manuscript Award, and Beware the British Serpent won two Saskatchewan Book Awards in 2004. His latest book, A Hero for the Americas: the Legend of Gonzalo Guerrero will be published in October 2017. A lifelong Saskatchewan Roughrider supporter, he is the co-author of the best-selling Rider Pride: The Story of Canada’s Best-Loved Football Team.
