John Boileau

Retired colonel John Boileau served in the Royal Canadian Armoured Corps (RCAC) for 37 years and commanded Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians). In retirement, he was honorary colonel of the Halifax Rifles (RCAC) for 10 years. He is an author and a media commentator who specializes in military history and has written 15 books and about 650 articles. Boileau was founding chair of the Halifax Military Heritage Preservation Society and chair of the National Council of Honorary Colonels. He is a recipient of the Order of Nova Scotia, Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal (Nova Scotia), a Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia Vice-Regal Commendation and a Commander Canadian Army Commendation.
