Margaret Anglin, actress (b at Ottawa 3 Apr 1876; d at Toronto 7 Jan 1958). Daughter of Timothy W. ANGLIN, Speaker of the House of Commons, she was born in the Speaker's Chambers.

Margaret Anglin, actress (b at Ottawa 3 Apr 1876; d at Toronto 7 Jan 1958). Daughter of Timothy W. ANGLIN, Speaker of the House of Commons, she was born in the Speaker's Chambers. She made her professional debut in 1894 in Shenandoah in New York and was an early success as Roxanne in Cyrano de Bergerac (1898), in the title role in Mrs. Dane's Defence and in The Great Divide (1906). She had her own classical company in 1913, playing Shakespeare's Viola, Rosalind and Cleopatra. In Greek tragedy she was dynamic as Antigone, Medea, Electra and Iphigenia. She retired after Watch on the Rhine (1943). She toured once to Australia and frequently performed in Canada.
