Thomson Reuters

Thomson Reuters (formerly The Thomson Corporation) was created on 17 April 2008 after The Thomson Corporation purchased Reuters.

The Thomson Corporation, owned by the Thomson family, was one of the largest information empires in the world. The company was founded in the 1950s by Roy Herbert Thomson following the growth of the organization from ownership of one Canadian newspaper to include several prominent papers in the United Kingdom. Magazine and book publishing followed in the 1960s. The company transitioned to specialized information content in the late 1970s. Following the 2008 merger with Reuters Group, the company re-named itself Thomson Reuters.
