Pierre Bertrand, author and philosopher (b at Montréal, 1946). Pierre Bertrand, earned a PhD (Philosophy) from the Université de Paris VIII et Paris I. He had a career teaching philosophy at the CÉGEP Édouard-Montpetit in Longueuil on Montréal's south shore, and was a prolific and productive writer. He published over a dozen works of unusual quality including L'oubli: révolution ou mort de l'histoire (1975) by Presses universitaires de France, Éros et liberté (1988), La ligne de création (1993), Méditations 1 (1995), Méditations 2 (1996), Logique de l'excès (1996), La Vie au plus près (1997), l'Éloge de la fragilité (2000) and Pour l'amour du monde (2002).

Pierre Bertrand the philosopher and writer, describes himself above all as a humanist. In unusually elegant and accessible language, he describes human vulnerability, both towards oneself and to others. "Philosophy alone can do nothing. It is the men and women behind ideas who can do everything".
