Perkins House

Perkins House in Liverpool, NS, was built for Simeon Perkins, who came from Connecticut and was one of the town's leading citizens in the late 18th century. Perkins was a merchant, shipowner and a colonel in the militia as well as being a judge and a member of the legislative assembly. He is also a significant figure in Nova Scotia history because his diaries, which he kept from 1760 to 1812, provide great insight into colonial life. Built in 1766, the house reflects a New England style of house architecture. It has been restored as a provincial historic site and is furnished to the late-18th-century period. Perkins House is open to the public from early June to mid-October.
