Keith James Laidler, chemist, professor (b at Liverpool, Eng 3 Jan 1916). After studying at Oxford and Princeton and holding appointments at the National Research Council and Catholic U, Washington, DC, he joined U of Ottawa in 1955.

Keith James Laidler, chemist, professor (b at Liverpool, Eng 3 Jan 1916). After studying at Oxford and Princeton and holding appointments at the National Research Council and Catholic U, Washington, DC, he joined U of Ottawa in 1955. He is coauthor of The Theory of Rate Processes and has published a large number of research papers, research monographs on chemical kinetics and chemistry textbooks. His research has covered the fields of chemical reaction kinetics, fundamental theoretical aspects of kinetics and experimental study of many types of systems. Elected a fellow of the RSC in 1960, he received the Chemical Institute of Canada Medal in 1971, the Queen's Jubilee Medal in 1977 and the Henry Marshall Tory Medal in 1987.
