David Blythe Hanna, accountant, railway director (b at Thornliebank, Scot 20 Dec 1858; d at Toronto 1 Dec 1938).

David Blythe Hanna, accountant, railway director (b at Thornliebank, Scot 20 Dec 1858; d at Toronto 1 Dec 1938). He came to Canada in 1882 to work with the GRAND TRUNK RY and worked with several other railway companies before joining William MACKENZIE and Donald MANN on the CANADIAN NORTHERN RY in 1896. When the Canadian government purchased Canadian Northern he resigned but was appointed first president of the board of directors of the newly formed CANADIAN NATIONAL RY. He retired 1922, but was briefly first chairman (1927-28) of the Liquor Control Board of Ont. He recounted his career in Trains of Recollection (1924). The town of HANNA, Alta, is named for him.
